DuoLingo - The Best Way to Learn A New Language
One of the things I promised I would do when I finished college, was reintroduce myself to some Spanish. Spanish was one of my favourite subjects growing up, after six years I had learned a decent amount and was impressed with the bits and pieces I could put together. It's one of those languages I listen to and always regretted giving up.
One of my friends told me about Duolingo, an app where you can learn and practice which ever language you choose. With over 30 to choose from, in no time you can start picking up useful phrases, whether it's to help with work or to speak with locals on holidays, Duoingo, has simple lessons to get you started.
The app is adaptive to your learning curve. The quicker you learn the great tests you're given. You get rewarded for being dedicated to your study. As the lessons are simple and more often then not quick, I try to incorporate them in to my morning routine, while I'm having my first cup of coffee or making my breakfast. Starting the day with a lesson ensures you won't put it off for the day and might even make extra time for an additional lesson in the evening.
As I had a basic understanding of Spanish with a couple years behind me, albeit I have not looked at a word of Spanish in 4 years, but a lot of what was coming up at first was more of a refresh than anything. The app allows you to see instantly if your answer was correct, so important so as to not forget the question before you are graded with your corrections.
The app is entirely free, the only downside is the free version has some ads. However, the ads are infrequent and actually have yet to bother me. And if they do, you can always pay the small fee to request your subscription be ad free.
Let me know in the comments if you've had any experience with the app, or if you're interested in learning a new language. I'd love to know other peoples thoughts.
As always, thanks for reading,
Char
