Monday, the word that quickly puts the fear of God in us all on a Sunday evening. It’s as though you spend the entire week waiting for the weekend to come, and yet waste the weekend worrying of what’s to come on Monday! A little counterproductive don’t you agree? It also results in us wishing away the majority of our time. One of my goals during isolation was to completely scrap my Monday fear and start enjoying every day as it comes. Life’s too short to be wishing any of it away. So here’s some ways to make your Monday that bit easier.

HOW TO COPE WITH MONDAY FEAR?

1. Organisation

Only in the past year or so can I admit to becoming organised. To be perfectly honest I was a disaster! Never having a plan, worrying about things well after the happened, and god forbid I could find anything important, from my favourite top to my driver’s license!

But as a converter I can 100% confirm life is easier with organisation. Lists and diaries are great ways to plan your week ahead and not forget anything important. Without the fear of having something important that you can’t remember, the day and the week for that matter, go by much smoother.

2. Set Goals

By setting yourself goals, you’re giving yourself something to work towards for the week. Small goals will motivate you to get yourself out of bed on Monday and get cracking into the week. This should be something you personally want or enjoy, if you base your goals on others you’re less likely to stay motivated. It could literally be anything. Whether you’re interested in started a new gym routine. Maybe you want to learn how to cook/bake. Or it could be something you’ve never done before like take a dance class. Whatever your goal, make sure to manage your time effectively so you will be guaranteed good results.

3. Enjoy Everything You Do

We’re probably sick of hearing this. But it makes complete sense! If you don’t enjoy the things you do, you’re guaranteed to wake up filled with dread. So take everything you do and look at it carefully. If it’s exercise, find a workout you love doing and look forward to. Do you like your job, or does the thoughts of the 9-5 make you want to crawl back under the sheets? Pursuing something you really want will only make you happier at the end of the day!

4. Exercise

I think this is so important. I try never to miss a Monday workout, as it sets up straight up for the week. Getting started on Monday means:

a) You’re clearing all of your weekend “guilt” straight away and setting yourself up for a good week.

b) You’re less likely to skip the gym again Tuesday.

c) You’ll feel great from all the endorphins.

So try your best to motivate yourself, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

5. Have Something to Look Forward to.

One of the most important tactics to a good Monday. Give yourself something to look forward to every single week. Once again life is too short to deprive yourself and be miserable, so treat yourself even if it’s only in a small way. You could just go to the cinema to see a new movie, book a meal in your restaurant, plan a trip, treat yourself to some earrings or even just making plans with friends (now that we can again).

At the end of the day it’s all about perspective and the attitude you decide to have. Hopefully this helps a bit.
