Italian food is by far one of the most popular cuisine's all around the world. And although we may not always be able to book a flight to get the best real experience, it's nice to know that they're are great choices right on our doorstep. Realistically, nowadays it’s so easy to find good Italian food wherever you are. So here are some of my top picks for Italian restaurants at home, in the Waterford City.

Emilianos is definitely my favourite Italian restaurant in the town. You'll find it on the High Street in Waterford. I am absolutely obsessed with the place. First of all the service is impeccable, from the waiters simply taking your coat from the second you enter, to always offering service with a smile. I feel like the atmosphere is so warm and friendly because of the staff, they really should be so proud of them. It's one place I really can say the customer comes first, and with every single member of staff too!

The food is so unbelievably tasty too. I love their garlic mushrooms and nearly always get them to start with. But they have so much selection too! And if you can make it in for the early bird you'd be surprised the value you would get.

Espresso is an Italian restaurant on Parnell Street in right in the centre of the city. I particularly love this restaurant for the wide range on its menu, offering a full page selection of pastas, numerous creative pizza recipes and many more options if you're in the mood for something a little different.

The space in the restaurant is great as well, it's nice to have a meal and not be so close to other tables. It just makes the whole experience a lot more comfortable. The price is also great, we didn't get there for the early bird the last time and I think 3 courses and sides we're 30pp which is amazing value.

I actually was only here last week, such a lovely spot. It is so cosy, but I've never seen it uncomfortably full either so that's a plus. The food is delicious and the service is incredibly quick. We had our meals faster than you would think possible.

I ordered the spinach & mushroom ricotta, which was so lovely. I wasn't starving when I was heading in so I only wanted something light. So just the ricotta for me, no starters or deserts. But the pizzas being delivered to other tables looked so tasty too. I will definitely be back soon.

This was another really cheap meal too I think the mains were about €12-€15, which is so affordable for a good Italian meal and located on the High Street in Waterford.

This is another great restaurant. I have actually only eaten here once but really enjoyed it. I ordered the gnocchi which is full of potato based goodness. One of my favourite meals ever. I found the service great, the waiters were so friendly without hoovering over the table, which is great.

The food took a little longer to arrive than other restaurants but tasted great and I was absolutely stuffed afterwards. Probably the most expensive of the Italian restaurants in town but not by much, the meal was still a really reasonable price. This restaurant is located on the Quay, which is great if you wanted to pop to the Reg for a cocktail or two afterwards.

Hope you enjoyed this post,
